Ceramic Armour Concept
I started off a few weeks back thinking about various clay Golem stories and this somehow evolved into an idea about ceramic armour being heatproof and lightweight. This somehow resonated with images in my head of antique Chinese porcelain and Chinese dragon traditions and before long I had mentally mapped out a whole culture centred around the taming of fire-breathing dragons with the use of ornate ceramic armour. This seems to make much more sense than metal armour because metal would simply conduct heat straight to the wearer.
Of course, dragons are smart but they're also fascinated by their own reflections. Hence, if the armour is made to look like a particular dragon's face, it is much easier to get the attention of the dragon in question and to convince the dragon that the wearer is some sort of "guiding spirit" or "inner voice" in the dragon's head! This is usually an effective way to control the dragon, although inducing this kind of psychosis in any animal is perhaps a little bit cruel. I intend this to be the first image in future series about this dragon-taming culture.
