About this Portfolio
Thankyou, for your interest in my CG Portfolio!
Here, you’ll find spectacular 2d and 3d artwork that I’ve personally produced for recent games and other real-time applications (as well as just for fun) with a focus on captivating characters and inviting environments!
Most of the concepts here are my own and when possible I like to take up as much of the art direction for a given project as possible. When producing characters and environments, I always end up creating side stories about who/what they are and how they function. Then I infuse my work with little clues that hint at this wider universe.
During production, I generally use Zbrush, Photoshop, 3d Studio Max, Unity and UDK with around 50% of my time spent with Zbrush. I’ve worked on real-time projects for teams in Russia, Japan, Cyprus and the USA and I’ve also done personal projects in Sweden, Holland and the UK. My CG work embodies a neck-and-neck race between my client list and my skill set.
Aside from creating game assets, I spend a fair amount of time finding out about contemporary cultures, their histories and their economies. The more I know about the world, the better I can reflect its operation through my work. I also write music and run various alternative projects that can be seen via samuelthomson.org
